Well the simple answer is that no one else is doing it. Well not in the same way. Let me explain.

Back in the day, as a branding design agency we were commissioned by Land Rover to define positioning and core values, mainly to inform the dealer network. This soon lead to developing a strategy and design for collateral to announce the imminent launch of the Range Rover into North America. Not only was this hugely successful, it also ignited in me a passion and in-depth understanding of what that game changing, iconic vehicle really represented and what gave it its unique style and ability.

This was further enhanced when establishing a joint venture with a world-wide advertising agency, when a £25k budget for a company car presented an opportunity to buy a manual Range Rover CSK. CSK are the initials of Charles Spencer King, the original Design Engineer. His brief was to create his perfect contemporary Range Rover – and with it’s upgraded engine, suspension and styling, that car today is hugely collectable. It was only available in one colour, Beluga Black, with Sorrel leather interior. Also with only two doors. It was in effect the first Range Rover Sport – and arguably the best Range Rover to date. I loved it. As a business we went on to order two more director’s cars!

More recently I have built an ‘Island’ interpretation for Menorca – pictured, (forgive the roll cage, arches and tyres – even longer story!). In essence this is absolutely true to the original vision, but built to perform like no other. Without a doubt the best I have driven – and that is quite a number.

So why am I telling you all this? Well, armed with this knowledge and deep understanding, I am endeavouring to emulate the great man and
create what I genuinely believe to be the best classic Range Rover available, using today’s technology, but true to the original design concept. Not pimped up with skirts and spoilers (the clue’s in the name). Not digitised, to lose its character and functionality. And certainly not ignoring the fundamental elements, so essential to its understated style and elegance, such as the ‘floating’ roof.

In the Kilvington Classic Range Rover I have curated a vehicle that I hope Spen King might have been proud to put his name to. I am certainly proud to put my name to it.
